New projects! |
This site is dedicated to boats, innovation and saving money. I've been working on boats (mostly sail) for about 30 years. One of the challenges of the marine environment is that you have to do things in particular ways or those things tend to come back and bite you. At best it may cause you frustration, lost time and money. At worst it may endanger your safety. But there are still a lot of varied approaches to solving problems and new materials and technologies that ought to work their way into the world of boats and I am both fascinated with and dedicaed to the challenges of doing just that. My second point of emphasis is that marine stuff is expensive. I do a lot of work on old houses and I am amazed at how relatively cheap house stuff is compared to boat stuff. A low voltage light for a house might be $12. A very similar light for a boat is $112! There are a couple of obvious reasons for this disparity. The marine light is almost always made better and the economy of scale works in favor of the home construction industry. You wish there was something you could do about halfway in between. Check back with me often as I explore ways to solve problems inexpensively and innovatively. Not everyone will agree with my approach. These are just my thoughts and suggestions as I share how I solved my own problems. If anything comes back to bite me I'll let you know that as well.
